Wonderful Waterwheels
4th Apr 2019
P4/5 have been working on the energy topic "Back to the Future." We have been exploring ways that energy was created in the past and can be used in the present. We have learnt that waterwheels which were used to crush grain or saw wood in the sawmills of the past can be used today in the production of hydroelectricity. As part of our STEM work, we made models of water wheels and discussed how the weight of the water falling into the cups would push the wheel around on its axle. Luckily we were able to test them outside as there was a lot of water whizzing around! Lots of fun!!!
