Viking Floating Experiment
27th Feb 2019
P4/5 learnt that Vikings used Draccar (Dragon Ships) and Knarr (cargo ships) on their sea adventures and noticed that they were different sizes and shapes. We decided to carry out an experiment to see if the shapes made any difference to their effectiveness as vessels. We had to predict which would hold the most weight and observe what happened to the 2 shapes. We realised that symmetry worked well with the weights to help the ships float and balance. Lots of teamwork was needed too as everyone had a job. Great fun, if a bit splashy!!
