Test it Tuesday!!!
DPS had a very special visitor to the school today.
Local Strabane Firefighter, Declan Mullen, came to our school to speak to the Primary Five children. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) focus on Primary Five classes every year across the whole of the country.
Declan spoke to the children about items at home responsible for fires, safety measures they can put in place to try to prevent a fire breaking out in their home and also a step-by-step process of what they and their family should do if a fire were to start at home.
The children listened amazingly to everything Declan had to say and I’m sure there are a lot of jobs they will now do at home, particularly, ‘Test it Tuesday’ formerly known as ‘Thumbs up on Monday.’
To reinforce the important messages from today’s talk Declan also provided the pupils with a wonderful resource pack, full of quizzes, information and puzzles.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Firefighter Mullen not only for his visit but to also for taking the time to answer lots of questions the children had about the fires he has attended, the fire service, fire engines and the fire station.
Thank you!
