Shared Education 2022 Lesson 6 - Ice Eggs
The final lesson in our Animals in Winter project was all about Ice Eggs! The children were told a story about Mrs McMCusker finding these eggs in the woods in the nest of a magical bird! There was a lot of excitement as each group were given an ice egg to investigate!! Of course the children worked out very quickly that these were really frozen balloons!! They learnt some new scientific language for looking - observe and guessing what would happen - predict. They thought inside the balloons looked like "fireworks" and "hedgehog spikes" as well as "cloudy" and "see through - transparent." After observing closely they sprinkled salt on the surface and observed these changes and then finally poured some paint on top. They listed lots of changes - "the surface is all bumpy", "the salt is dissolving," "the ice has ridges." It was a super fun lesson. Some of our wonderful P3s made a video to tell you about it too.
