Shape houses
P4/5 have been learning about the Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier.
At the beginning of his life, Le Corbusier made square, concrete block buildings. However, by the end of his life, Le Corbusier had begun to make natural, curving buildings. We looked at some of his buildings and discussed the shapes we could see. We talked about the properties of the shapes and discussed if we liked or disliked Le Corbusier's designs.
The children liked the fact that a lot of his buildings had the stairs on the outside of the building and they liked the curves of his later designs.
Using a sheet of 2D shapes, the children then designed their own Le Corbusier inspired building.
We definitely have some future architects among our pupils.
