Our lucky Primary One children were delighted to recieve not one but TWO presents of books today!
The Education Library Service partnered with BookTrust NI to give all Primary One children across Northern Ireland a 'Time to Read' pack containing the book 'I Am A Tiger' written by Karl Newson and Ross Collins. 'Research shows that a child who reads for pleasure will do better at school, even in subjects like maths.'
Their second book, 'Our Wee Place', was commissioned as part of the Northern Ireland Office’s Our Story in the Making programme to mark Northern Ireland’s Centenary.
The book has been produced by established children’s author Sophie Kirtley and emerging illustrator Ellan Rankin, both of whom are from Northern Ireland. Both have used their own local knowledge and experience of Northern Ireland in producing the book.
