Pancake Tuesday 2020 in P1/2

Primary 1/2 had a busy day with Mrs Hay today, making pancakes.  They had a look at and discussed all the items they were going to need for the pancakes; they talked about how the weighing scales worked and where the arrow would be for the quantity of ingredients they needed for the pancakes; they did a shared read of the ingredients and the method so they knew how to make them; they all helped to weigh, measure, mix and beat to make the batter, and they talked about the changing state of materials, watching the flour change when the milk was added, watching the butter melt in the pan and watching the pancake batter turn into fluffy pancakes.  There was so much learning involved and the kids were having so much fun but the best bit of all came at the end when they topped them with jam or chocolate spread and ate them all up, after completing a little bit of written work about the activity of course :-)
