P3/4 were Up, Up and Away (Almost!)
As part of our ongoing 'Up, Up and Away' topic P3/4 went off to visit the airport today! We were met by Mr Mervyn Quigg, a firefighter at the airport, and shown around. The children were very lucky to see a fire engine water spray in action before their tour of the airport and even had the opportunity to try on the fire fighting gear! It was VERY heavy as both Stevie and Chelsea can tell you!
After lunch in the Arrivals area the children were taken to a viewing room where they watched the Liverpool flight land. We saw all the different jobs in action from the directing in of the plane to baggage unloading and refueling. We learned that there are lots more jobs at an airport than we ever thought! Thirty minutes later the plane was refueled with new passengers and luggage boarded. We watched as the Liverpool flight took off down the runway then 'Up, Up and Away' it went. We all had a fantastic day and learned so much more about our topic. We hope you enjoy the photos!
