P3/4 Reading Partners
We had lots of little teachers in class today! As part of our reading programme children were paired off and had the chance to teach each other. This proved to be a wonderful experience and the children really got into the spirit of it all and benefitted greatly from the opportunity to help each other sound out new words and encourage expression. It was lovely to observe how well the children listened to each other and to overhear their lovely little words of encouragement. As usual any words the children found tricky have been written in their reading diaries and signed by the child who 'taught' the reading.
Chelsea, 'It was brilliant to hear Jamie reading'
Calvin, 'I liked being able to read with a friend'
Ryan, 'Harvey was good at sounding out his words'
Summer, 'I liked hearing Billy's expresion'
Rebecca, 'It was good to hear what other children read'
A successful experience all round.
