Make way Michelangelo!

12th Oct 2020

P4/5 have been continuing their imaginary trip around Europe and stopped off in Italy today to learn about the famous Michelangelo.  They looked at his sculpture 'Pieta' and we talked about his famous work in the Sistine chapel where he painted amazing frescos on the ceiling.  The children also learned that Michelangelo didn't paint animals.

For their challenge after all this learning, they had to pretend to be Michelangelo and paint on the ceiling (the underside of their desks!) but they had to paint an animal.

There was lots of excitement but also a lot of pupils who thought this challenge was too difficult so we stopped and reminded ourselves of the importance of self belief by participating in some supermovers (you can try it here https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/ks1-pshe-believe-with-naomi-wilkinson/zjchd6f).

The boys and girls then got back to their paintings and created some wonderful pieces of art which we will share when they are all finished.

The boys and girls enjoyed the supermovers so much that we finished our day with it too and Mrs Hay ended up exhausted lol.

Well done to P4/5 for great perseverance today and for joining in and having a go!  We are very proud of you all :-)
