Jubilee Assembly
On Thursday 31st May we had a very busy and exciting day at D.P.S. which started with a 'Show and Tell Assembly' at 10am. Lots of visitors came to our assembly and saw all the wonderful work the boys and girls had completed on The Queen and her Diamond Jubilee.
Mrs Hay's class started the show with wonderful crowns, paintings and written work.
After each class had presented their work they were given a special commemorative coin from the PTA to mark this very special occasion. Thank you PTA for this wonderful gift and thank you Mrs Sandra Robinson for presenting them.
Mrs Crosbie's class was next and as well as showing us all their wonderful class work they had the queen 'hot seated' for a question and answer session!
Mrs McCusker's class had more wonderful work to show us including poetry and Andy Warhol inspired portraits of The Queen.
Next came Mr Potts' class and they had written some fascinating interview questions for the queen and designed some wonderful Diamond Jubilee stamps.
Last but by no means least came Miss Given's class. They told us about games in the 1950s and showed us commemorative plate designs and model monuments they had created for Hyde Park.
Thank you again to all the visitors who came to our assembly; to the teachers for all their hard work creating the tasks and activities for the children; and to the children for all their hard work during the week and for their wonderful presentations during assembly!
